Considered to be the building services industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, the awards represent the best companies and products in their fields. Elta is delighted to have made the shortlist for the award with a product that has been painstakingly designed and developed over a two year period, ahead of its launch in 2014. During the 24 month development and testing programme every aspect of the product’s design was scrutinised. For the impeller alone, in excess of 35, 3D models were created. These were reduced to 19 prototypes, the final one becoming the Mori dMEV unique ‘bladelet’ impeller. This unrelenting attention to detail was applied to all aspects of the design, development, construction and testing of the unit. The innovative

Mori dMEV conforms to System 3 ventilation types and is suitable for the extraction of stale air either direct or through short length ducting. The unit provides market leading SFP, some 30% below the nearest competition at the time of testing, and minimal noise emissions. Colin Hone, Head of UK Residential Sales, said: “Everyone here is excited about our nomination. The Mori dMEV is the most efficient dMEV unit ever produced and has provided our dedicated residential ventilation team with a fantastic product which has been very well received in the market.”

The prestigious awards, which celebrate their 21st anniversary this year, will be announced on Thursday 16 April at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. .

Elta Launches New QuietFlow DCV Range at H&V ’09 https://eltauk.com/blog/elta-launches-new-quietflow-dcv-range-at-hv-09/ https://eltauk.com/blog/elta-launches-new-quietflow-dcv-range-at-hv-09/#respond Sat, 21 Feb 2009 00:00:00 +0000 https://eltaecodev.wpengine.com/blog/elta-fans-launches-new-quietflow-dcv-range-at-hv-09/ At The Heating & Ventilating Exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham (24-26 Feb, 2009) – the most comprehensive exhibition of hvac equipment ever staged in the UK – Elta are launching their new and innovative Quietflow DCV (Demand Control Ventilation) system.

In the face of sharply increasing fuel costs, the rapidly rising costs of owning and operating H&V equipment and services, added to the new environmental imperative “to be seen to be green”, one of the recurring themes at H&V09 will be low energy, low carbon solutions. Quietflow DCV allows the efficient and effective implementation of variable ventilation solutions to variable occupancy spaces within a single building in order to save energy – and money.

The Elta Group has been fully committed to helping reduce the carbon-footprint of buildings for many years through more efficient components, products and control systems using less energy. But today’s soaring energy costs, along with recent and anticipated future legislation, are hastening the industry’s drive for faster product and system development in the important area of energy conservation.

In the Quietflow DCV system, Elta has combined energy-efficient fan and impeller units with the ability to use Elta’s DCV control methodology. This combination and the use of electronic functionality to integrate complementary modes of operation and efficiency, make the units quieter, more energy-efficient and maximises control efficiency to enhance potential savings in energy costs – moving ventilation ‘through a paradigm shift’ into a whole new era of technology.

The latter cleverly uses different forms of sensor to provide a vast array of different detection modules to detect the level of spatial contaminant (e.g: people, temperature, CO2, humidity) within the building. The sensors provide an almost infinite amount of variation to the ventilation system so that it matches the level of occupancy within the space. The intelligent system will also interface easily with other enabling systems (infra-red PRI, building automation systems) so that the end-user can be alerted to changes in performance levels, energy levels, maintenance requirements etc.

Efficiency of the fans has been greatly improved. Some models are fitted with a backward-curved impeller to provide around 87% efficiency. Also, a self-extinguishing, acoustic lining provides an enhanced and greatly improved noise-rating when compared to similar models. For cleaning and maintenance, access is much simpler via easy-to-remove top panels and the control systems also incorporates SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage facility) for the greater protection of users and installers alike.

Generally all Quietflow DCV units have been designed and developed to minimise their height, so that they can fit easily into ceiling spaces and voids. Multiple choice of fan allows for a wide range of airflows to ensure a good choice for the customer. They are ideally suited to either new-build or refurbishment projects where space is at a premium and energy conservation is a priority.

Quietflow DCV units have been fully tested in compliance with ISO 5801:1997 (airside performance) and BS848 Part2: 1985 (sound performance) in order to provide accurate and reliable test data. All Quietflow DCV products (indeed, all Elta products) are designed and manufactured in accordance with BS EN ISO9001: 2000 to strict design and manufacturing standards.

The Quietflow DCV is the first product in the range of in-line box fan units, with the twin fan unit following later in 2009.

The new, full colour Quietflow DCV brochure will be available from Elta at the H&V show or alternatively by calling +44 (0) 1384 275800 or email bs@eltafans.co.uk.

Elta is part of the £85 million Elta Group, a family of businesses with operations in six countries on four continents which, together with a network of international distributors, provides quality fans and related air movement equipment to customers worldwide.

Elta Go Back to School With New Range at H&V ’09 https://eltauk.com/blog/elta-go-back-to-school-with-new-range-at-hv-09/ https://eltauk.com/blog/elta-go-back-to-school-with-new-range-at-hv-09/#respond Thu, 15 Jan 2009 00:00:00 +0000 https://eltaecodev.wpengine.com/blog/elta-fans-go-back-to-school-with-new-range-at-hv-09/ Elta will be taking an innovative approach to the introduction of their new range of intelligent ventilation products at the H&V ’09 exhibition, with a typical school environment used to demonstrate the ‘Demand and Control’ approach to ventilation.

With sustainability and energy efficiency an increasing focus for the built environment, the box fan Quietflow DCV range has been developed with brand new controls from Elta. The control package will ensure that the ventilation provided combines maximum efficiency with minimum energy consumption.

The Elta stand (HB32, Hall 19) will feature a ‘classroom’ theatre area where Elta’s specialists will demonstrate the new range and how it may operate in a typical school day, from ‘first bell’ through to home time. Working examples from the range of box fans will also be on show, with a series of panels to illustrate how different sensors can be used to intelligently control the ventilation system.

A section of the stand introduces a ‘Back-to-School’ within the stand following the successful use of Elta’s products in a number of prestigious educational applications. These including one of the most energy efficient buildings ever built by Derbyshire County Council.

The 210 pupil Herbert Strutt Primary School in Belper, Derbyshire, features Elta along with a series of controllers, room occupancy sensors, timers, switches and thermostats to which the fans are linked. This system ensures that rather than running constantly, the fans only progressively operate in those rooms that are occupied, thereby providing significant energy savings.

Also exhibiting at the H&V ’09 exhibition will be Elta’s sister company Fastlane (stand HA29, Hall 18/19) who will be introducing newly updated products and brochures including the increasingly popular heat recovery wheel and domestic HRU’s, to ensure maximum energy efficiency in all buildings.

At the RAC ’09 show, running alongside H&V’09, will be yet another company from the Elta Group. Hydor (stand G33, Hall 17) who will be focusing on their capabilities in the design, manufacture and supply of air circulation fans, ventilation products and systems employed in refrigeration, industrial, agricultural and many other applications throughout the world.

Elta is part of the £85 million Elta Group, a family of businesses with operations in six countries on four continents which, together with a network of international distributors, provides quality fans and related air movement equipment to customers worldwide.
